KANTA No.1
2-way bookshelf speaker
With its modern, compact look, Kanta No.1 fits easily into all types of spaces, whether it’s presented on a piece of furniture or on a stand. It uses a combination of exclusive Focal technologies to deliver excellent sound performance, with warmth, musicality and depth.
FLAX AND BERYLLIUM COMBINATION
For the first time with Kanta, a Flax (French linen) cone driver has been combined with a Beryllium tweeter in a Focal loudspeaker! Flax brings clarity and precision to the sound; Beryllium offers incredible treble finesse.
MODERN FINISHES
Mat fronts (Black, Ivory, White) are combined with Black High Gloss, White High Gloss or Walnut High Gloss bodies, offering a wide choice of contemporary combinations for the Kanta No.1. Sophisticated, the Matte effect “absorbs” light rather than reflecting it, creating a refined contrast with varnishes.
FOR SOUND AND DESIGN
Thanks to Focus Time, all the loudspeakers are at the same distance from the ear. The modern, disruptive character of the loudspeaker is underlined by a one-piece moulded wood rear shell, a Zamak base, a glass plate, discreet magnetic fabric holder.
ENHANCE YOUR LOUDSPEAKERS
STAND FOR KANTA No.1
Optional feet (height adjustable from 61.5 to 64.1 cm) in matt black aluminum are available for Kanta No.1 bookshelf speakers. These are attached to the base to prevent vibration and ensure optimum stability (decoupling spikes and glides supplied).
TECHNOLOGIES
TMD SUSPENSION
Stabilized surround, eliminates vibrations
While our engineers are experts in the development of exclusive diaphragms, they also innovate in all the components that make up the loudspeakers, such as the surround that connects the diaphragm to the frame, the performance of which must be mastered. Introduced in 2015, Tuned Mass Damper (TMD) technology with harmonic damping consists of the addition of finely positioned toroidal weights to stabilize the surround for even greater sonic neutrality. This technology enhances the midrange and the erratic behavior of the surround between 1 kHz and 2 kHz.
BÉRYLLIUM TWEETER
For exceptional treble
Membrane shape and materials are essential for high-fidelity reproduction. For exceptional treble, our engineers have developed the Béryllium inverted dome tweeter in pure Beryllium. Thanks to its unrivalled rigidity, Beryllium is the material of choice for high-frequency loudspeakers. Developed and patented by Focal, the pure Beryllium inverted dome is capable of covering more than five octaves (1,000 – 40,000 Hz) for perfect perception of micro-details.
HIGH DENSITY POLYMER
Specially designed cabinetry
Everything is designed to bring softness and warmth to the sound: density and rigidity of both front and shell materials, soft angles and a double vent. A new material, favorable to acoustic parameters, is used for the façade. It is molded from a single block of High Density Polymer (HDP). This material offers enhanced performance: it is 70% denser than MDF, 15% more rigid and offers 25% more damping. The one-piece front panel eliminates any sound diffraction.
FLAX MEMBRANE
Purity and precision of sound
As the key component of a loudspeaker, the membrane is at the heart of our acoustic engineers’ research. After more than five years of research and development, in 2013 Focal unveiled an exclusive membrane made from flax. Patented, this Flax cone is a sandwich made of very high quality French flax fibre placed between two thin sheets of glass fibre. It satisfies all the criteria of a high-fidelity membrane: lightness to offer good dynamics, rigidity to hold the bass and damping to deliver a neutral, natural, uncolored sound. It is an emblematic Focal innovation in many hi-fi products.
NIC TECHNOLOGY
Very high sound definition
For very high-definition sound, control of the magnetic flux circulating in the loudspeaker is essential. Our acousticians have created a magnetic circuit of incredible stability, guaranteeing perfectly controlled sound: Neutral Inductance Circuit (NIC) technology. This patented technology resides in a Faraday ring whose dimensions, material and positioning are optimized to make the magnetic flux stable and the sound highly precise.
