An afternoon
with Ruark
Richard McKinney, Sales Director of Ruark Audio, joins us in St Kilda to launch the new Talisman-R floorstanding speakers. Lunch, listening and conversation.
Made to be seen as much as heard
The original Talisman arrived in 1990, when most speakers were plain boxes. Thirty-six years on, Ruark has brought it back — same idea, entirely new engineering.
Richard will walk through the design, play a selection of music on Talisman-R and the wider Ruark range, and take questions. It’s an informal session in the showroom, during the Stereonet Hi-Fi Show week.
Richard McKinney
Richard leads sales for Ruark from the company’s home in Southend-on-Sea, Essex, where the family-run business has designed audio since 1986. He’s in Melbourne for Hi-Fi Show week, and spending Tuesday lunchtime with us.
Talisman-R
A decoupled baffle, isolated by elastomer bushes and damping strips, sits on a braced cabinet with dual flared ports. Behind it, a 27mm silk dome and a 17cm long-throw fibre-cone woofer, floated on a machined steel plinth.
