Ronnie’s Bathroom Speaker on The Block – Let’s look a little closer

Ronnie Bathroom Speaker on the Block

You may have noticed a very interesting speaker on The Block during this weeks bathroom challenge. Ronnie and Georgia came to a less than amicable decision to invest in a new portable Bluetooth WiFi Speaker to impress the judges and to bring a little (read: a lot!) sound to their bathroom. We’ll admit, it looks a little unusual as for a speaker, so we thought we’d look a little closer and get to know the story behind the cone shaped brass bathroom speaker from the block.

Which speaker did Ronnie buy?

Choosing to ignore his wife, Ronnie spent his morning here at Premium Sound St Kilda looking for a speaker to give their bathroom the edge in this weeks challenge. Say hello to the Bang & Olufsen Beosound 1 – A fully portable 360 Bluetooth and WiFi speaker. Crafted from a single piece of aluminium, this is a seamlessly functional speaker with touch control for play/pause, skip and change input.

It looks incredibly unique, but is it a good speaker?

Bang & Olufsen think about three key things in all of their products: the sound, the design and the innovation. The design itself is incredibly minimal – there are no buttons. Connect to the speaker with Bluetooth or via WiFi with the Bang & Olufsen app where you can manage your music services and inputs (such as Spotify or Deezer) and where you can connect to other Bang & Olufsen WiFi speakers and play music all throughout your home. It plays as a powered speaker or can be unplugged and used as a portable speaker that you can take with you wherever you’re brave enough to take it. The sound is probably one of the most impressive feature. We’ll avoid the complicated task of describing the quality, it really must be heard to be believed.

Multiroom connectivity – play music throughout your home.

One of the greatest innovations in sound technology recently, and perhaps something overlooked by The Block contestants in this particular challenge, is something we’ll refer to as Multiroom Speakers. These speakers connect over a WiFi network both to a music source (such as Spotify) as well as to other Multiroom Speakers. This way, you can effortlessly have your favourite music playing in multiple areas of your home or create zones to suit the different moods of each room.

What do we think about the placement in the bathroom? Well, it’s designed to be a very flexible speaker that will make a statement in any room, and perhaps will be complimented nicely by the brass features on the taps and fixtures. Ronnie made the call and went against the grain and his wife and decided to put it on the floor. For that we should at least commend his bravery. At the end of the day this speaker will look and sound amazing anywhere in the house. We hope they love it as much as we do!
